This verdict is considered one of the largest slip-and-fall jury verdicts in the country for a lumbar spine injury/spinal cord stimulator. Our client walked into a McDonalds for breakfast and left with excruciating low back pain after slipping on trashcan grease that was left on the floor by an employee and landing on his tailbone. Our client, a young man in his early 30’s had already undergone two separate lumbar spine surgeries due to an unrelated work incident that McDonald’s blamed for his ongoing complaints. This slip and fall damaged the same area in his spine resulting in the permanent placement of a spinal cord stimulator device to control his pain. McDonald’s fought our litigation team hard and prior to trial refused to pay our demand of $2,000,000 and offered an insulting $300,000. The trial team lead by Brian Kim and Maureen Hennessey obtained a massive jury verdict in Santa Monica that was nearly twenty million dollars after statutory interest and cost. The jury understood that this was a life long commitment and that has value.
